1.So It Begins?

Might as well get started I guess.

Yesterday Ian briefed the class on what our next steps need to be for our FYPs. Our assessments from the PPM proposal aren't back yet, so I don't even know if my project has been approved. Regardless, I guess I can blog about the assignment briefs, timelines, and kind of what my next steps probably should be.
(I have no idea if I'm legally not allowed to show this, but Ian hasn't said we can't and it's not like I'm gonna be handing out links to this blog left and right)

For the first part of the submission, due May 10th, I have to have completed the artefact, as outlined in the proposal I submitted for PPM, as well as this blog for documentation purposes. 80% of 30 credits, for a module that MUST be included for my final grades, is honestly terrifying.

Add to it the fact that Ian keeps emphasising that we will NOT get marks for learning, and everything is scored based on the extent to which I create what I have proposed, means this project will basically carry my grade for my degree, and determine whether or not I can get a first class. Not that most employers really care when it comes to a designer's grades compared to their portfolio.

The brief also emphasises the importance of citing every code library or external resource I use, which should be okay since I bookmark everything in my chrome anyway.

Apparently I'll need to write up another risk assessment list? Even though I've already done one for PPM. On top of that one of the blog posts in here will need to be "a 500 word blog post which is a critical evaluation of your finished artefact, assessing its success using its cultural context to frame your evaluations.". The brief recommends using Wordpress or Tumblr, but I'll admit I'm already accustomed to Blogger's layout, even though it's like the boring old cousin people have tired of.

Assignment 2 of Project Realisation is "A short video (60 seconds maximum), which introduces and explains your project, and,  A YouTube page hosting your video and providing an effective public presence for your project which links to your professional profile". Ideally I think I should be filming short clips of working progress throughout making the artefact to include. Hopefully by the end of the course I'll be able to create a cool showreel for myself, or if anything have documentation of my epic fail.

Not super optimistic right now, but forge onwards I must.
