I finally received ethics approval from the board on the 1st of April, and spent the next few days securing room bookings so that I could run the surveys according to my application. Over the next two weeks, I managed to get a total of 14 results, although I'll admit as I progressed through the interviews I was tempted to cut some of the questions for time (I didn't, because ethics).
For privacy/ethics reasons I won't go through the results one by one, but in this blog post I'll talk about the questions, interview process, and things I'd do to improve it.
I've already listed the questions in this past blog post, but I'll paste the questions here again and sum up my interview experiences with them. Comments will be Italicised, and this colour.

Section 1 - Memories
1. What kind of music do you listen to? How does this music make you feel?
I wrote this intending for it to be a warm-up question, but I think it ended up wasting time because most people will start talking about the different genres they listen to according to their different moods.
2. What hobbies do you have currently? Do you think there are certain sounds you
associate with that activity?
Also kind of not very relevant at the end of the day. Vague? Not a well-written question honestly I don't know why I included it
3. Tell me a memory you have associated with a family member - this can be positive or
negative.
This one wasn't bad. Got some solid responses, and got the interviewees talking about something personal.
4. If you had to recall certain sounds that made you think of school or your youth what
would it be?
Also personal stuff, that is good for setting the tone, I think, but ends up not contributing to the final data.
5. What do you think of when someone mentions electronic music?
Included this because I'm still not sure what kind of sounds I want the heart to make, and I keep thinking about Madeon's Adventure Machine still. Goals.
Section 2 - Sounds
I’m going to play you a series of audio clips. There are a total of 15 clips, each approximately
30 seconds in length. For each audio clip, please answer the following questions.
I think this section is really what generated usable data for my project.
1. What is one image you associate with this audio clip?
Interviewees varied in the amount of detail they went into when describing this image, but I didn't have an issue with it.
2. What is one word that best describes how you feel about this clip?
The first few interviews I ended up accidentally veering away from "how you feel" to just one word. That was an error on my part, but I don't think I'll have the time to go back and redo it.
3. Please tick the box that best suits your stance.
I'm quite happy with this chart I made haha. Not the most nuanced, but I captured what I could.

At the end of the day, I gathered all the responses, and for Section 2, compiled all the ticks to see if there were sounds that trended one direction or the other (positive or negative). Will break this data down in the next post.

Interview Questions:
Thank you for agreeing to participate in this. This interview will be semi-structured, so there are a few basic questions but we might sometimes expand further on specific answers.Section 1 - Memories
